The Virgo woman can be described as gentle, witty, realistic, dedicated and discerning. Her greatest assets are her intelligence, analytical mind and excellent memory. Virgos are logical and detail oriented – they literally think of everything. Although they may appear as strong-minded individuals, they do have a softer, emotional side to their personalities. Underneath all of Virgo’s perfectionism, is their desire to serve others. They always work towards the greater good and are reliable friends and partners. For these and so many other reasons, the indispensable Virgo woman deserves thoughtful acknowledgment and appreciation.
Birthstone Jewelry Gifts
Handmade birthstone jewelry gifts make wonderful presents for the Virgo woman. The graceful and grounded Virgo is governed by the Earth and nurtured by nature and the earthly beauty of gemstones will resonate with her. Virgoan birthstones are gemstones that symbolize their month of birth, August and September as well as their astrological sign, Virgo. There are dozens of Virgo gemstones stemming from different cultures, histories and traditions. Yet each of these birthstones are imbued with properties beneficial to Virgo maidens and their significance, when woven into handcrafted jewelry, makes them heartfelt, personal gifts that Virgos will most certainly appreciate.
Let’s explore some handmade gift ideas for Virgo women:
Virgo Zodiac Birthstones
Zodiac stones are a wonderful, mystical way to approach birthstones. Ancient Zodiac stones differ from birthstones in that they were the gemstones assigned to each astrological sign before we switched to the Gregorian calendar in the late 1500’s. There are numerous Virgo stones from the Zodiac to choose from: Carnelian, Jade, Jasper, Blue Sapphire, Zircon, Sodalite, Moss Agate, Moonstone and Citrine.
Carnelian is the primary Zodiac stone for Virgo. A stone known for passion, Carnelian will bring forth a Virgo’s emotional side as they tend to be in their heads a lot. One of the handmade Carnelian necklaces we recently highlighted in our blog August Birthstones: Calling All Leos would suit a Virgo as well.
We also offer a beaded necklace, “Loretta“, which combines the Vedic (ancient East-Indian) astrology birthstone for Virgo (Sodalite – a stone of logic and rationality) and Zodiac stone, Carnelian in a harmonious combination of heart and mind energy:
Jade, which comes in many color variations, represents love, virtue and good luck and can strengthen the body and help keep a hardworking Virgo going. Yellow Jade is a variety thought of as being cheerful and energetic believed to encourage assimilation. “Caressa” features beautiful creamy yellow Jade drops paired with yellow Jasper. The neutral tone of this graceful beaded necklace set makes it appropriate for every day, work or play – a great choice for the ever practical Virgo.
Jasper also comes in many color varieties. We particularly love for it’s painterly patters and striations. Jasper is thought to balance negative and positive energies so it is a stabilizing stone. It enables you to be more present in your body, a helpful attribute for Virgo, who tends to worry. We’ve created a very special set in Jasper, “Palomino“, which combines silver leaf jasper with edgy smoky quartz spikes and a leather tassel pendant for a chic eclectic look.

Solaris: A sculptural showpiece highlighting glorious Citrine.
Citrine is the planetary stone for Mercury, Virgo’s ruling planet and thus a very lucky stone for Virgo. Known as The Merchant Stone, Citrine attracts wealth and is a stone of abundance and manifestation. It also improves mental clarity – a helpful quality for the over active minds of Virgo. “Solaris” is a statement necklace we designed that is all about Citrine. It’s modern, bold and brimming with positive energy.
Traditional Virgo Birthstone
Peridot, formerly known as Chrysolite, is in fact the traditional birthstone for September. Traditional birthstones are society based birthstones often reflecting Western culture and folklore. They are thought to be linked to the First Testament and the story of the twelve stones in Aaron’s breastplate.
Beautiful olivine Peridot would make a fine gift for a Virgo woman or anyone you wish to support in their journey. It is believed to protect its wearer from negativity and open the heart to joy. The Peridot gemstone sharpens the mind and enhances confidence, motivating growth and change. “Calista” is a lovely necklace set we have available that features golden Tigers Eye with delicate Peridot clusters and crystal briolettes in this revitalizing olivine color. It is a regal design that will add an understated opulence to your look.
Modern Virgo Birthstones
In an effort to standardize birthstones, modern and alternative birthstones were assigned in the early 1900’s by jewelry associations. Although these gemstones have little to do with the Judeo-Christian roots of traditional birthstones, they do have potent energetic properties and have been revered in both ancient and western cultures for centuries.
Sapphire is the most widely known birthstone for Virgo. While Sapphire is available in white, pink and yellow – blue Sapphire is associated with September and Virgo. Known as the Wisdom Stone, Sapphire is aptly suited for the highly intuitive and intelligent Virgo as it is believed to bring order and focus to your mind and to strengthen the ability to see beneath the surface. We don’t work with such precious gems but sometimes a necklace in the same color family can represent the symbolic meaning of Sapphire.
“Maris” is a handcrafted necklace we currently have that features cobalt blue sea glass. This elegant set will complement navy and enrich neutrals. It’s a versatile set that will appeal to a put-together Virgo.

Morning Glory: A lariat of beautiful gemstones: Lapis, Chalcedony, Blue Goldstone, Blue Tigers Eye, Blueberry Quartz and crystal.
Lapis Lazuli is a lesser known modern September gemstone. Lapis stone is the Stone of Purity; thought to enhance truth, understanding and good judgement. It is also a stone of friendship and communication thus befitting the devoted friend often found within the Virgo woman. “Morning Glory” is a unique lariat design composed of many semi-precious stones, including Lapis. Its thoughtful and detailed design elements will appeal to a scrupulous Virgo and it is a great choice for this time of year, as its blues and ambers will pair well with navy and neutral earth tones.
The good taste and meticulous nature of a Virgo woman carries through to her appearance so buying jewelry for her requires careful consideration. In addition to the healing properties of the Virgo birthstones, think of what your Virgo friend likes. What colors does she wear? Does she go for a bit of flash or is she conservative? Although strong and independent, the Virgo woman is quite sensitive and needs to be appreciated for all the things she does; thoughtfully selecting a handcrafted birthstone necklace is a lovely way to show your affection for a charming Virgo maiden.

This is such a fantastic post Roz! Chock full of gorgeousness and interesting info. I love learning new things every time I see one of your blog posts. As always the necklaces are stunning!
Author
So appreciate your comment, Julie Latz. Glad we are able to provide new information. Beth did extensive research on this one which benefited us all.
I’m fascinated by the choices available for Virgo women from 2 different gemology systems that truly symbolize the Virgo spirit. This post has to be one of your best and evergreen!
Author
I was looking forward to your comment Vatsala Shulka, knowing your extensive knowledge of astrological stones. I passed your compliment on to Beth who did the extensive research & beautiful chart.
Aw, geez, Roz, I love all these, too! But my faves are Oestre and Solaris. So beautiful. More things to add to my wish list!
Author
Jackie Harder, please remove Solaris from your wish list as Sharon purchased it to give a gift to a Virgo friend.
Fascinating information about all the gemstones associated with Virgo. In a way, it’s a shame that in modern times we’ve reduced it to one gemstone per month. How nice to have a choice and to know the background to them all!
Author
I believe, Carol Rundle, in all things there is a background of history- of past and only research brings it out.
This is a great article on Virgo and the many choices of gemstones that align with it. Citrine is a great stone and it represents money and fortune and is very representative of the Virgo’s ancient ruler, Mercury. The modern-day ruler Chiron (the wounded healer which is very Virgo-ish) has aquamarine as its birthstone which is another lovely choice for jewelry for those of us who love the turquoise colours in stones. My experience with Virgo men has been interesting. Every doctor and alternative healer I’ve stayed with and most of the men I’ve worked with have been Virgo’s. As soon as we move into Virgo, I generally find I am compelled to start cleaning and organizing again, which aligns with the time of year and our desire to come back in from a summer of being out in the world. Great piece on the many aspects of Virgo and the choices of gemstones that this healing sign brings. Beautiful jewelry featured in the post as well!
Author
As always Beverley Golden, you add so much content to our blogs. I can’t say I paid attention years ago to birth signs, especially when I was single. Appreciate your comment.
So much great information combined with beautiful photos and jewelry. I love this particularly because my two favorite people (partner and daughter) are Virgos.
Author
Welcome to our blog. Appreciate your comment as it reminded me I have a son and step-daughter who are Virgos & I love them dearly.
I loved learning more about Virgo personalities and these gems are beautiful. I was always a fan of jade, although I don’t actually own or wear any of it myself. My mom’s birthstone is peridot so I am familiar with that one. Really great post and beautiful jewelry. Thank you for sharing!
Author
You are very welcome Lisa Mason and happy to provide new information to you.
Gorgeous pieces, as always, Roslyn!
I had no idea about the pre-1900s birthstones; but I love those birthstone assignments too because greens and blues are some of my favorite colors!
That “green acres” piece is to die for…I just had to have it!
Author
Welcome to our blog and appreciate your comment and becoming a customer. You selected a lovely necklace made from artisan handblown glass and jade beads. I can see it on you.
A terrific post. I learned so much about the beautiful gems and stones I’ve admired all my life. I knew a little about Virgos, because of my Dad, who would have been 107 years old today. The post has made me want to read and learn more about Leo, my birth month!
Author
Welcome to our blog. Appreciate your comment and sharing about your Dad.
This indeed is an epic post – and one which I will be happy to subscribe to. There is a ton of well researched information – and may I say that although I am married to a Virgo man, you have the personality down to a T. Good job.
Author
Thanks, Linda Pearl for acknowledging the Virgo personality and appreciating the post.
Beautiful jewelry, as always, Roslyn. Can’t wait until you get around to Cancer. Unlike some women, I love my birthstone, the ruby, and already have numerous pieces made with it. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Author
Thanks, Lesa for your compliment and comment. Cancer just passed and we don’t work with precious gemstones, but we did design a necklace in an alternate birthstone Carnelian: https://earthandmoondesign.com/shop/necklaces/pippa-22-5-inch-orange-agate-and-carnelian-necklace/. Perhaps you would enjoy this as a variation to wearing ruby.
Such beautiful pieces of jewelry. My 2 favorites are Green Acres and Stellar, mainly because of the colors. Normally I do not wear shades of green but Green Acres is such a rich color that I would wear it. The blue in Stellar is so soft yet vibrant and such a nice design. As you mentioned it would be attractive with navy or gray. Your design ability certainly shines in these pieces.
Author
Welcome back, Pat Moon and thank you for your compliment. Seems your preference for Green Acres was also someone else’s favorite and she just purchased it. Love your description of Stellar. My partner daughter designed Stellar and I crafted Green Acres. We not only are passionate about our craft but have fun naming each necklace.
In reading this again, it is interesting to hear that Vigo women are “gentle and witty” as my experience is more with the realistic and detail oriented side of Virgo. It is what I personally experience myself when I put myself in the “Virgo” energy. I’m struck again by the wide variety of birthstones that are ascribed to Virgo as it offers a very wide range and variety of colours and styles to choose from. I lean more towards the blue and turquoise stones, although citrine is always a great stone to include because of its link to property and fortune. A wonderful post with lots of interesting information, Roslyn. Thank Beth for the stellar research and the beautifully designed jewelry too!
Author
Beverley Golden, appreciate your second round of reflections. Citrine was sold for a Virgo gift. This article has many readers hoping or asking for a similar one for their birth sign. Knowing how knowledgeable you are in this area, perhaps you would like to do your own Birthstone month and we can coordinate with our jewelry?
Hi Roz!
Really enjoyed your post this week! I am not a virgo, but if I was I would love to snatch up that piece of Jade jewelry! Beautiful pieces!! Thanks so much for sharing your awesome products!!
Author
Thanks, Joan Harrington for your comment. That piece of jade jewelry was just purchased and not by a Virgo either.Often happens this way where one piece seems more popular than the others and the same piece in a different mix doesn’t get noticed. We love being able to weave our products with meaningful content and knowing our readers are appreciative.
Beautiful jewelry and very informative piece on the traits of Virgo women. I always viewed Virgos as soft, caring and kind. I can’t wait to see the jewelry for “Scorpio women.” 🙂
I don’t know anything about birthstones so it was very interesting for me to read your blog! I love Jade because of both its meaning and colour! Thank you for sharing Roslyn 🙂
Author
You are welcome Kaz. Glad you keep finding out about new things. Bet you impress your wife.
Wow, Roslyn… you could teach this stuff! You really do your homework, research and you know what you’re talking about. You’ve become a blogging PRO! I think you should reach out to others in your niche and guest blog. 🙂

Welcome back to our blog. Yes, Norma Doiron, we have expanded our content and we vary it monthly to fit the season, fans interests, weave stories with our jewelry. This one was written completely by my partner/daughter Beth who gathered all the information and creates the graphics for all our blogs. Her plate is very full and mostly she edits our blogs. We can’t manage the time to be guest bloggers, however, are looking for some for ourselves.
I agree. This post was epic and the jewelry is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing 🙂

Welcome to our blog, Bk Walker. So glad you joined us for this one. Sometimes our blog is not related to our jewelry. This time, you got both.
Aye karumba, Roz, so much history and info packed into this post and beautiful pieces of jewelry as well!
The words “Lapis Lazuli” fascinated me since childhood, Roz! I didn’t really know what they meant but the sound of them is so wonderful, like a little song! I’m glad I learned more about it in your post. Beautiful gift ideas, as always!
Author
Yes, Delia Rusu, words, names can do that and gemstones do have fascinating names with a history behind them. We name our necklaces which is a fun task.
Never got too much into horoscopes as they were kind of general and somewhat applies to me, and not… just varies I guess. I don’t think I have anyone close who is a Virgo. Loved the Stellar and Loretta, beautiful!
Author
Kristen, Wilson, personally not into horoscopes but am being intrigued by astrology, meaning of gemstones and zodiac signs.
You’re knocking these blogs out of the park, Roz.
And I’m the lucky buyer of your Citrine necklace!! It’s as beautiful on delivery as you promised in your stories.
It’s perfect for my Virgo friend. Can’t wait to see her reaction.
Author
So happy you love the gift you purchased as well as our blogs. Beth wrote this one based on the research for your Virgo friend. Sometimes our blogs are a joint effort, but this one was written entirely by Beth. Sharon, perhaps when your friend recives the gift, you’ll post a review on our Fb page and on our website.
Lots of lovely ideas for presents for my mum who’s a Virgo.
Author
Thanks for your comment Denyse Whillier, let us know if we can assist with a gift for your mom.
Roz,
I was not aware of the number of ancient Virgo birthstones.
You know me – I’d be one to stick with the traditional Peridot. Way back when, I found a ring that put the Peridot – my traditional birthstone – And amethyst – my favorite color. However, as gold has been less in style, it is in my reserve for awhile.
Lovely choices above!
~Keri
Author
Thanks so much Keri, for your comment and personal share. I can picture your beautiful ring and if I may, suggest you wear it. Don’t save it for a special time or a style to return. Stand out and be your expressive self.
Roz, I am so drawn to “Loretta,” because of her yin and yang energy. She’s a left and right hemisphere jewel. I also did not know about the ancient and more recently added stones for each month, but I’ve always been fascinated with birthstones and their energy and have bought presents for friends based on their birthstone. I love the way Beth really honors the Virgo woman as a goddess with this description.
Author
Thanks Hope for taking the time to read and comment on the Virgo Woman. Choosing birthstone jewelry for gifts is a lovely idea as it adds meaning in multiple ways. Some readers now want their months done, so we shall see how it will fit into our editorial calendar.
I didn’t read the entire post, but the description of a Virgo is definitely accurate to me.
I saw citrine is one of the Virgo gems you’ve listed and of course had to read it, since citrine is the stone on my engagement ring! Definitely an interesting description of the gem. I’ll have to remember that.

I love your birthstone gem articles!! I especially love learning what each stone represents and what it can do for us. Both my girls and I love Citrine and find when we where it we have crazy dreams!! Never knew that jade came in so many colors! Great read Roz, thank you!!!
Author
Thanks, Lisa Swanson for your comment on our birthstone blogs as well as our jewelry. They do require research and good graphic skills, so it’s nice to know that they are appreciated.
I loved reading all the lovely things you had to say about Virgos, Roz, as I am one. I was fascinated with the yellow jade – I did not realize there was such a thing. I know Saphire is the best-known birthstone for Virgo but I’m glad Lapis Lazuli is on the list as I actually prefer it, though it’s not as precious. I love the Morning Glory lariat.
Author
Of course, you are a Virgo Tamuria. So glad you enjoyed reading about Virgo’s and now have a few more birthstones to consider.
I found the yellow jade something new to me, being such a lover of traditional green jade. Lovely pieces and so many interesting choices for Virgo women. This really is the time of year when we come back to earth, after being “out-there” and airy through the summer season. It’s fun to see how many of the birthstones actually have both an earth feel to them. I imagine the Virgo women are hard-pressed to choose just one of these gorgeous pieces for themselves!
Author
Beverley, so many women do not seem to know they have Zodiac birthstones. They are usually familiar with the traditional gems jewelers promote, so we are pleased that we can expand their horizons.
Beautiful necklaces. I have several female family members that are Virgos. I love the Peridot stone. It’s so pretty.
Author
Sabrina Quairoli, hope you learned some useful info that suits your Virgo family members. Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful, Roz! There are so many more interesting options when you add in the astrological stones! I am December (Sag) and have never been over the moon about my stones, so I’m going to look up what else is in my sign!
All the pieces are just gorgeous!
Author
Appreciate your enthusiasm Kimberly. Many people are unaware that they have astrological gemstones as well as traditional ones. Beth hopes to write about all the months in the future. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of time and skill to create a birthstone chart, corresponding gemstone jewelry and content.
What a gorgeous array.
I love being a witch and an ordained priestess, because I get to learn so much cool and awesome stuff (well, that’s just one of the reasons).
Like: Virgo = The Virgin. The maiden. Strong. And beholden to no one. She is the boss of herself.
That maiden energy — always there, ever accessible.
I am thrilled to have so many strong Virgo women in my life and they deserve to be adorned with the gorgeous pieces you show here.
Author
Thanks, Sue Kearney for your wise comment and additional info on Virgos. I hope someday if you choose to gift one of the Virgo women in your life it will be one of our creations.
I will happily pass this on to my Virgo women friends and knowing they will get just as much delight in reading about the Virgo woman as they will with adorning themselves with those precious, gorgeous jewelry pieces.
Author
Thanks, Teresa for passing this along & i do hope your Virgo women friends enjoy the info and become subscribers & customers.

Lucky Virgo women, they have so many beautiful stones to choose from. I love the idea that you have created different pieces incorporating all of the stones into your selection. You make it almost impossible to choose between them.
Author
Appreciate your comment, Joyce Hansen. Now to find many Virgo women to entice them.
So nice that there are so many different color stones for each birthstone. Gives a wide selection to choose from.

Guess who is about to have some fun on Pinterest? ME! LOL
My mom is a Virgo, and she has always preferred sapphire or lapis, but I just love the jasper too.
Thanks Jennifer for sharing our post & jewelry on Pinterest.
