Stand out from the crowd in your 4th of July dresses!

Roslyn Fashion & Jewelry: Your Life in Color 4th July, 4th of july dresses, blue wrap bracelet, maxi dresses

Summer is often packed with events, invitations, get-togethers and you have to decide what to wear. The first big decision might just be an invite to a July 4th barbeque or picnic. This year why not stand out from the crowd in your 4th of July dresses. After all, it is the anniversary of the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776. Many patriotic displays, town parades and family events are organized throughout the United States. Typically a great deal of emphasis is on the American tradition of political freedom , and traditionally lots of watermelon and hot dogs get consumed as well as the American flag displayed outside homes. Some communities arrange for fireworks often accompanied by patriotic music and on NBC, the famous NYC Macy fireworks display gets televised as it has been since 1976.

Think back to prior years  when you wore all three colors with some stars thrown in to look patriotic. Ok for a kid and then maybe you graduated to white capris and only a red or navy tee. Nothing wrong with that but wouldn’t you like to look just a tad different? And what if you had a really full day scheduled with brunch with your friends, then a family block barbeque and later in the day, a romantic dinner with your loved one. No time to change and so you really have to prepare.

How can one outfit get you through all occasions?

July 4th is a very special day for me in that I gave birth to my daughter in 1968. For the first 6 years of her life I told her that firework displays were for her birthday. But then she learned about Independence day in school. She also became a very independent person early on. Who knew we would one day  design jewelry.

Have an amazing 4th everyone! Looking forward to seeing all of your photos don’t forget to share them with me on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and G+

I loved going to work each day for 30 years as a professional career counselor. When I retired, I explored my creativity and regard for crafts until I discovered beading. At age 68 I turned my new found passion- jewelry design, into a business. At age 72 I took on learning about social media marketing and developing my computer skills. I am sharing my journey from inception, to frustration, to elation -in the hope of inspiring others that 'it is not too late to start again'. Welcome to my re-invention!

  1. Love all the ways you offer to “dress up” the dress for both the 4th of July, or for anytime. I know how amazing and important Independence Day is for you and your daughter, and it’s fun to see your creativity come to life in how to feature your fabulous designs. Hope this July 4th is spectacular and that you have a lovely celebration, whatever you do.

  2. I love the idea of a white dress, the denim jacket, and the jewelry you suggested. What a beautiful outfit.
Our next to youngest grandson was born on July 5 very early in the am so was close to a 4th of July baby!

    1. It was not my due date Pat Moon so having a July 4th baby was a big bang for us. Glad you could picture the demin with a white dress and a blue necklace. Very southwest, don’t you think?

  3. Such wonderful ideas! I love adding red, white and blue to everything for this special holiday! I even found stars (made out of balsa wood) to wear as earrings! Your pictures remind me that it’s a very special day and I think your designs are fantastic!

  4. White is always the perfect color for summer. It’s great because I know a lot of people do wear white during the July 4th holidays.

  5. Always reminding us that we can look exquisite by simply stopping to think through intelligent choices in clothing … and accessories, of course! Your “The Deep” necklace is such a stunner, even if we’d have to fudge a bit on the color. Maybe here in Florida, we could fly the “red, white and teal”? 😉

    1. Oh Sharon- I was hoping no one would notice the teal versus blue. In Florida, one can always say the blue needs to remind you of the ocean. Thanks for your comments.

  6. I am not fashionable like these pictures but I hope those beautiful dresses would fit on me. I mean on my personality. I find them very feminine and reserved but they’re beautiful to look at. 🙂

    1. You know Rochefel, I don’t think of myself as fashionable in the sense of ‘runway’ fashion but I’ve learned to look for simple, basic clothes that I can wear forever. I chose these 3 dresses for that reason. And they demonstrate that they can go from one function to another by adding or subtracting. Thanks for your comment.

  7. KungPhoo, Don Purdum and Nate- I suspect my blogs are challenges as the content is intended for women. I appreciate your comments as I see it gets you looking from a female perspective. Just think about using the info to please any woman in your life.

  8. I love the idea of starting with a white dress and using jewelry to style it. I especially like the wrap bracelet. You’re very talented!
