Women have asked for guidance in choosing a necklace for a particular outfit .

But for a first date?

Yes! Just as you think about what you want to wear, what image you want to project, you might start thinking about how the right jewelry can be a catalyst to conversation.

For some of us, it has been awhile since we were dressing for dates. But consider instead of a date- a special event where you know no one. Or an important function and you want to stand out from the crowd and draw people to talk to you. We do attend conferences and networking events. So how do you attract others to you?

The key to all of this can be the necklace you wear. Watch the following video to see what I mean.

Remember the next time you are getting dressed, spend a sec and think about what jewelry you are putting on. So often we are in a rush and grab the same earrings we always wear, or we don’t even think about wearing a necklace that highlights our face or augments our outfit. Did you know that wearing a long layered rope creates length and can  coordinate your  top and bottom? Why show up at a meeting or event without putting that extra attention to your outfit?  Imagine small talk to break the ice based on the jewelry you are wearing. You just made someone else feel comfortable as well as presented yourself with your best foot forward (oops-I mean feature). We have so many different styles and designs for you to choose from. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so be generous to yourself.

I loved going to work each day for 30 years as a professional career counselor. When I retired, I explored my creativity and regard for crafts until I discovered beading. At age 68 I turned my new found passion- jewelry design, into a business. At age 72 I took on learning about social media marketing and developing my computer skills. I am sharing my journey from inception, to frustration, to elation -in the hope of inspiring others that 'it is not too late to start again'. Welcome to my re-invention!

    1. Matha- First impressions in any venue really matter. Even our avatars or if we show ourselves in a video- what we are wearing, the aspects of the background shown. These are all elements to consider. This was an impromptu video so necklace was not draped accurately but I thought it such fun, decided to use it.

    1. Connie, Some women create a date night with hubby and like to surprise them with a new outfit or a new piece of jewelry. Of course they hope hubby notices and is bowled over.

  1. Such a lovely post, Roslyn! I haven’t been on a date for a long time but I do know, just like clothes, jewelry was important. When I wore something special, I felt good about myself. It does make a powerful statement! Your pieces are gorgeous! 🙂

  2. Hi Roslyn,

Everytime I visit your site, you always have cool stuff to share. I know a lot of women will love the products you shared. Have a great week ahead!

  3. Nate- Haven’t heard that phrase- cool stuff to share- in awhile. Maybe its my age-74.5 years old. Glad you enjoy my blogs. Writing them, choosing topics and images to coordinate with topic has been challenging and fun.

  4. That was such a cute video! Indeed, a great piece of jewelry (or more) is a good topic of discussion. By now men have learned that we love to get compliments and to talk about our jewelry.

    1. Simona, not sure how many men learned that noticing the clothes and jewelry scores big. At shows when a male wants our help selecting a necklace, sometimes they cant answer their wifes favorite color, or does she wear short necklaces or prefer layering long ones.

  5. I know that wearing beautiful jewelry makes me feel more feminine and beautiful. I don’t dress up very often.
I love seeing your beautiful jewelry!

  6. I like the brown necklace in the top picture. As soon as I saw it, it spoke comfort to me. Never realized before how things speak to me. So, I can see it’s true. Certain things make us feel certain things – as does our jewelry. Learned something new today… 🙂

  7. True Norma, we often aren’t aware why we are attracted to a particular color, article of clothing, style or accessory. But something has us feel ‘comfy’.

  8. You seem to always give great tips for the right jewelry for a particular outfit or occasion. It is good to know that a long strand pulls an outfit together and adds height. I guess that means it could make you look thinner? I am short-waisted so I need that height on top.

    1. Pat, All I knew to do was create jewelry. After I started doing social media I realized I have knowledge to impart, like tips and so I will be doing more of it. Glad you found this one helpful.

  9. Very nice post Roz! I definitely agree with you-the jewels can make the entire outfit! The right pair of earrings can beautifully accent your facial features. Your jewelry is beautiful, thank you for the advice!

  10. Well this was fun! You just took me back to the days of being a little girl playing with my mother’s jewelry and matching it to different outfits. Ahh … what a great place to go today. My love for jewelry continues even now, and I’m still playing. Now I have a mix of ‘special’ and ‘every day’ pieces, so I can wear it to suit my look. I love your passion for jewelry! Keep it coming 🙂

    1. Thanks Dawn. Dress up, trying on looks, styles, different jewelry designs is lots of fun. I always encourage women at house parties and shows to try it on, try a different color or look out. Too often they interpret it as they will have to buy if they try it on- pressure and that is so not my intention. Glad you love jewelry.

    1. Yes Marielle, It is a good idea to have a few different styles or types of necklaces to enhance an outfit. Its just that extra touch that can make a difference and you feel great.

  11. Great article and video, Roslyn! Jewelry is such a personal choice and a first date is the perfect time to wear that choice. Love all your pieces, Roslyn!

  12. What a fun video to point out how to relate the necklace you’re wearing to the person asking the questions! What we choose to wear can tell us a lot about our mood: I have a number of pieces that always bring comments, so when I get dressed I subliminally know by the necklace I choose whether I’m feeling outgoing or am in a more laid-back mood!

Sharon, It seems I can usually count on you to really get the focus of a blog, video, necklace. This was unscripted and they were really relating and went with the flow. Thanks for being you.
