Getting Office Fall to Winter Look

Roslyn Fashion & Jewelry: Your Life in Color beaded Jewelry, fashion, Trends, WorkLife

Chilly days are upon us and we start thinking about our office wardrobe as we transition through fall to winter. We might think the simplest thing to do is toss on a sweater or a denim jacket, which is what I often do, but that won’t suffice for long. Sooner or later we have to pay some serious attention to our fall to winter office wardrobe. What many working women want to know is how to create a business professional outfit with an existing wardrobe into a fashionable look.

Consider the following:

Before you run out for a shopping spree you might want to take a look inside your closet.I am so happy I did. Most women have the little black dress that can be worn to work, a business meeting or to a fine restaurant. Hanging next to it is the tailored black or gray suit with a washable white blouse. It’s fall, so we will own a tan or beige cardigan, maybe brown pants or pencil skirt and probably a camel jacket.  So then, what do we really need?

The Right Accessory Completes the Look

Here are some black outfits I’m sure you have. But you don’t have that special necklace that brings subtle color and trendy interest to your outfit and can help you transition from day to night.

A popular look this season is gray and tweed. Seems black and gray are forever popular neutrals, so of course every woman has it in her wardrobe. Look what this triple twisted pearl strand called: ‘Shades of Gray’ can do for your outfit.

How could any basic wardrobe be complete without the fall hues of beige, tan and brown?

All that is missing from your wardrobe is that perfect accessory. It costs a less less to buy a handmade, one-of-a-kind new necklace that will probably coordinate with many of your outfits, freshen them up and give you a new look. Any of our new pieces from our fall collection can do that for you and your wardrobe.

I loved going to work each day for 30 years as a professional career counselor. When I retired, I explored my creativity and regard for crafts until I discovered beading. At age 68 I turned my new found passion- jewelry design, into a business. At age 72 I took on learning about social media marketing and developing my computer skills. I am sharing my journey from inception, to frustration, to elation -in the hope of inspiring others that 'it is not too late to start again'. Welcome to my re-invention!

  2. What a helpful article, Roslyn. I like to look nice when I’m away from home but I don’t like to have to figure out what is popular. You gave some great suggestions that are very practical. Great way to showcase your jewelry!

Well Kristen Wilson, a season extends over a few weeks and offers lots of angles or topics for me and others to write about. In last weeks blog, I did NOT include any jewelry. I was teasing. I set the stage for todays blog- fashion and jewelry. And I agree- I’m not looking ahead to winter so I linger in fall for as long as possible. But when it comes to shopping, then you want to overlap both seasons. Making sense now?

  5. Thank you Roz for all the great ideas! I love how you showed that you don’t always have to go on a shopping spree for new outfits. All you need is beautiful accessories to make an outfit look beautiful, sexy and stunning. Your jewelery pieces you have created are unique and would accent any outfit whether it was jeans, evening gown or office attire. Absolutely Gorgeous!!

  6. Fortunately, I am good and looking through my close rack to see what I currently have to wear that I can wear for the winter. Partly because I don’t want to buy new close. I agree once you do the right accessories is what makes the difference. What fun!
