Gemstones for Scorpio Women

Roslyn Gemstones, Birthstones & Zodiac Signs Astrology

Scorpio women are the most mysterious of the twelve signs of the Zodiac. Representing the sign of extremes, Scorpio women can be demanding, demonstrative and highly magnetic all at the same time. Scorpio women are independent and fearless in their pursuits, and drawn to power and position. They should never be taken lightly as they have great strength, intuition, intelligence and depth; and know how to use their assets.

Scorpio Style

Scorpio Birthstones and Zodiac Stones CC
Scorpio women approach fashion with great aplomb. They may enjoy following the trends but aren’t slaves to anything; as they instinctively know what works best for them and will shift from boardroom bad-ass to romantic bohemian depending on the situation. But true to Scorpio’s secretive tendencies, what you see on the outside may be deceiving. Scorpio women are complex and seductive and always looking for an angle.

Luxurious gemstones are the perfect indulgence for stylish Scorpio women; the secret powers that lie within birthstones will resonate with Scorpios hidden and spiritual nature and many of the Scorpio lucky stones are in their best colors, bold black and shades of red. Let’s explore the many magnificent gemstones for Scorpio if we dare intensify their penetrating beauty.

Scorpio Zodiac Stones

Zodiac stones are less known power stones for Scorpio. Divined from the Ancients pre 15th Century, these mystical gemstones will particularly appeal to the esoteric nature of Scorpio women. Zodiac birthstones correspond to each Sign’s astrological legend (Western and Eastern), associated planets and talismans. The ancient Zodiac stones for Scorpio are Aquamarine, Beryl, Obsidian, Hematite, Garnet, Ruby, Jasper, and Amethyst.

Aquamarine is the primary Zodiac stone for Scorpio (and the traditional birthstone for October). Beautiful Aquamarine is the blue variety of Beryl. Aquamarine embodies all things connected to the sea; both exhilarating and calming, it is the supreme stone for Scorpio, a water sign whose emotions run deep. “Harmony” pairs Aquamarine with dark teal Apatite and Chrysocolla:

Beryl is the name of a group of minerals believed to bring lightness and cheer, a welcome counter-point to the serious-minded Scorpio.

Shiny black Obsidian is a grounding stone thought to absorb negative energy, helpful for a sometimes tempestuous Scorpio.“Saturn’s Lair” is a dark yet flattering design, featuring snowflake Obsidian, a patterned variety of the gemstone identified in Vedic astrology (aka Hindu astrology) as a birthstone for Scorpio:

Another Vedic (ancient East-Indian) astrology birthstone for Scorpio is Hematite. Hematite is a grounding stone also known to promote vitality, optimism and self-confidence. These uplifting metaphysical properties will enhance the personal magnetism of a Scorpio. ”Meryl” reflects this dark and light dynamic with small discs of steely gray Hematite, Pyrite, black Onyx and white Riverstone:

The ruling planet of Scorpio is Pluto and Garnet is a gemstone associated with Pluto. Garnet is very important for the Scorpio-born. It is an energizing stone that aids healing by connecting with primordial, regenerating energy. It is a stone of strong feelings that will surely resonate with a sensual, attuned Scorpio woman.“Harvest Moon” is a sleek lariat design accented with Garnet, crystal and pearls:

A counterpart of Garnet is the captivating Ruby. This fiery red Scorpio stone has long been associated with love and faithful commitment much like the fiercely passionate and loyal Scorpio woman.

Mars was the ruling planet of Scorpio before Pluto was discovered and Jasper is the planetary stone for Mars. Jasper is also the birthstone for October in the ancient Tibetan calendar and thus it is considered a birthstone for Scorpio. Jasper brings stability and joy. It is a nurturing stone much like the immensely giving Scorpio woman. “Freya”, “Sandstorm” and “Swallowtail” all contain varieties of Jasper:

Beautiful purple amethyst is the talismanic stone for Scorpio. Talismans are often engraved amulets or other pieces of jewelry believed to exercise a powerful influence. Amethyst is a calming, mood stabilizing gemstone, an excellent choice for a highly emotional Scorpio. We combined Scorpio birthstones, Jasper and Amethyst, in “Alaya”, an alluring boho-style choker featuring exotic beads from Tibet:

Traditional Scorpio Birthstone

Traditional birthstones are society-based birthstones often reflecting Western culture and folklore. Topaz is one of the twelve stones in Aaron’s breastplate mentioned in the Book of Exodus and the traditional birthstone for November. Topaz is available in a number of colors, blue, smoke, and golden yellow, the variety specified as the November birthstone. This yellow stone symbolizes optimism and energy and is believed to strengthen both the physical and spiritual body. “Angelique” is regal design we currently have that features jewel tones paired with smoky Quartz, a semi-precious stone close in coloration to smoky Topaz that is known as a Stone of Power, aptly fitting the driven Scorpio woman:

Modern Scorpio Birthstones

In an effort to standardize birthstones, modern and alternative birthstones were assigned in the early 1900’s by jewelry associations. Although these gemstones have little to do with the Judeo-Christian roots of traditional birthstones, they have been revered in both ancient and western cultures for centuries.

Citrine is the modern birthstone for Scorpio. Known as The Merchant Stone, Citrine would make a fine gift for a Scorpio or anyone as it attracts wealth and is a stone of abundance and manifestation. It also improves mental clarity – an attractive quality for the keen-minded Scorpio who is uninterested in superfluous gray areas. “Georgia” combines Citrine, orange Aventurine, Jasper and Carnelian in a design as uplifting and centering as a sunset:

I loved going to work each day for 30 years as a professional career counselor. When I retired, I explored my creativity and regard for crafts until I discovered beading. At age 68 I turned my new found passion- jewelry design, into a business. At age 72 I took on learning about social media marketing and developing my computer skills. I am sharing my journey from inception, to frustration, to elation -in the hope of inspiring others that 'it is not too late to start again'. Welcome to my re-invention!

  1. Although I am a Scorpio, I don’t find much of the classic description of a Scorpio to be true of me. It is fun to claim the better virtues of a Scorpio. This article was enlightening to me. I always thought yellow topaz is my birthstone, and that is a stone that does not resonate with me. It is exciting read about the wonderful Zodiac stones. Those speak to me more than yellow topaz. Your jewelry for each of the stones is beautiful.

Thanks, LeAllyson Meyer for your comment and compliment on our jewelry. Coming from another bead artist makes it extra special. Often it happens that a description for a sign just doesn’t match in all characteristics. Glad you enjoyed this post though.

  2. I have a Scorpion mother and my late grandmother was a Scorpion too, Roslyn, which put this Aries girl at a disadvantage when it came to having the last word. 🙂 In fact, they never said a word, just a calm look that said all that there needed to be said.

On a fashion note, I find Scorpion ladies know how to be elegant and from observing my mother over the years, I’ve seen the art of understatement played like a masterpiece for example, the single strand of pearls matching her saree for an evening engagement that had all eyes on her – even now in her 70s. These are classy ladies who shine out and with the lovely topaz, garnet and amethyst, they shine brightly.

Thanks, Vatsala Shukla for sharing your personal experience of Scorpio women. You certainly was raised by an artist elegant woman who knew how to match the jewels of India. From what I know and see of you, you have inherited her beauty.

Thanks, Suzi. We recently started doing a monthly piece on birthstones or Zodiac signs. Can’t always but we will see if we can when Cancer sign rolls around again. For now, here is just a bit of information: Cancer Strengths are loyal, dependable, caring, adaptable and responsible. Do any fit?

  3. I have some Scorpio women friends and I treasure them. As usual, your article about the characteristics of a sign is so interesting. I like reading about the modern birthstones too.

Beth Niebuhr, Thanks for your comment. We do a great deal of research to include all the characteristics for a sign. Feel free to share the blog with your Scorpio friends. They might even want to treat themselves to a new necklace for a birthday.

  5. Enjoyed reading your research on all the stones aligned with Scorpio, Roslyn. I had never heard of Amethyst with Scorpio, as of course it is the stone of us Aquarians. My experience of Scorpio women is that they have a style and a class that is distinctively “sexy” or as you put it seductive. Even if the rising sign is Scorpio, there is something about their energy that is identifiable to me. Scorpio and Aquarius have much to learn from each other, so I often find Scorpio men in my circles too. They have a very deep and hidden part to them and I imagine this is true of Scorpio women as well. You can never quite read what they are thinking and often they are not able to express it either. Beautiful necklaces for each of the stones and a great description of the energies of each. I seem to wear many of the stones ascribed here to Scorpios. Interesting.

Thank you, Beverley. Amethyst for Scorpio was a pleasant surprise for us too. We love learning about all the ancient legends and lore related to these beautiful gemstones. Glad you do too.

      1. Amethyst is not a surprise to me at all. I am a Scorpio and have been drawn to this crystal for decades. Maybe the colour? I’m not sure but I certainly associate it with spiritual and mystical connotations which are intriguing to the deep and secretive nature of the Scorpio woman.

  6. Roslyn, I have to admit that I have never been “into” learning about signs or the interrelationships between each of them. But now that I’m on my third marriage, maybe I need to pay closer attention – may have saved me a lot of grief. LOL! Thanks for your posts and all the research. I look forward to learning more.

Welcome to our blog Melanie Banayat & I appreciate your comment. It’s good to be open to all paths. Some will resonate more than others. They say, “The third’s the charm”.

  7. First, let me say I find your historical information to be fascinating. I didn’t know that the signs of the zodiac had so many different gems/stones associated with them. I have Scorpio rising and it’s interesting to me that some of my favorite stones — garnet, amethyst and topaz — are already well-represented in my jewelry box. And of course, the more saturated the color the better — which is why I prefer garnet to ruby although ruby is more valuable.

Appreciate Jackie Harder that we can present new information to you. After reading your comment I decided to make a jewel tone necklace. Combination not typical, berry, green & purple, but the glow & design in not meant to be.

  8. The research into the stones is really cool! I’m impressed.

I don’t know if I agree about Scorpio women being the most mysterious – my wife of 26 years is a Gemini and she’s a mystery to me. ha! I always found Scorpio women to be very passionate. Not just romantically, but about ANYTHING they care about. I know exactly what Vatsala means in her comment about “just a look” or the “last word”.

    Cheers!
    Rob

That’s really nice and we do have a few who add lots of information.

  9. I don’t have any Scorpions in my life but as usual your jewellery is so beautiful. I particularly love the Harmony, necklace – it really is calming. 🙂

  10. As usual your jewelry is uniquely beautiful! I loved learning about all the different stones associated with the zodiac sign of scorpio. I’m a Libra myself and always considered opal the only stone associated with an October birth day. I hope you have a zodiac post each month! So much fun and I love giving jewelry that connects to peoples birth stone and now their zodiac stone!

  11. I used to be very fascinated about the different signs and how they relate to personalities in the past, but not so much anymore. Regardless, I love the way you write your blog posts Roz and the way you relate signs with stones and the beautiful jewelry. All look beautiful indeed!

  12. Hi Roslyn,

I love reading the historical information and find it fascinating, too! Thank you for sharing this with us. It is clear that you put a great deal of time into this post.

All of the pieces that you have shared are stunning. It is evident that you and your daughter take great care and give attention to detail in every piece. I would love to learn the history of my birthstone, the opal.

Thank you again for sharing this with us, Roslyn!

So glad Robin Strohmaier, you enjoy the history and facts in our blogs. I do believe it sets ours apart from many jewelry designers who use blogs to showcase new product. I know you and our readers appreciate the time and preparation each week. My daughter is the one who prepared this one and all of our birthstone charts and info. We are not promising to do a monthly . We shall see how it goes.

  13. Welp, the descriptions you indicated, at least these, are definitely me. However, the funny thing, of all of the stones you indicated, those were never ones that I have had the pleasure of having for my birthstone, it’s always been some pink or opal… I would LOVE amethyst to be my stone, heck even aquamarine.. though not a fan of browns or reds…but whatever, right? lol BTW Merle pic isn’t working! 😉

I’m so glad Kristen the Scorpio description fit you. Anytime you want a necklace in a particular stone or color, you know what to do. Thanks for heads up on Merle image. I checked & it’s working. Might have been a temporary glitch.

  14. How fun to read the traits of Scorpio women. Many of these descriptions are in line with my personality – a little scary=> Love these pieces, Roz – all beautifully styled to make anyone’s day more special. Thanks for a fun and enlightening post.

  15. Hi Roz,
I love this – I am a Sagittarius though my birthstone is the Topaz/Citrine. When I was younger; I did not really like my birthstone; now I love it – especially the citrine. The description of a Scorpio woman fits me too – My birthday is November 25; so I’m sort of on the cusp; and the Sagitarrius descriptions fit well too. Love this piece. One of my goals is to purchase a piece or two of your jewelry within the next year … I love the passion you put into the design and education about the stones you use.

    Thank you,
    Tamara
